Srimad Bhagavad Gita

The Srimad Bhagavad Gita, also known as the Gita, is an ancient Sanskrit text from the Indian subcontinent. It is part of the Hindu epic Mahabharata and is commonly regarded by Hindus as one of their most important religious texts. This 700-verse Hindu scripture in Sanskrit is considered by many to be a concise introduction to Vedanta or spiritual knowledge and devotional practice in Hinduism. The core message of the Gita revolves around spiritual advice delivered by Shri Krishna, an incarnation (Avatar) of Vishnu — who speaks through verse 4:7-8—to Arjuna on how to live life meaningful against a backdrop of dharma (righteous duties), karma(actions/deeds} and moksha(liberation). The main objective behind this work was “Naiṣkarmyam” which articulates liberation from selfish desires and attachments that lead us astray from our soul values reflected in various stages like truthfulness, nonviolence etc., for being closer with divinity. For several years it has been highly influential among both lay people and scholars, providing inspiration across different sects within Hinduism including Advaita Vedanta philosophy.
